Psychic Research

Psychic research refers to investigating apparently paranormal phenomena, in a rational way.  What is a paranormal phenomenon? It is a collection of extra-ordinary events which are out with our everyday senses and experiences.

This field of investigation is huge and ever-growing as people are constantly having such experiences and are now willing to talk about them; as such experiences are not now such a taboo subject as in the past.   A big part of my investigations are concentrated on the experiences of those who have contacted spiritualist churches or myself directly, because they have been aware of unusual situations happening around them and want answers or to get whatever is there moved on.

My research takes me into areas where people have suddenly become aware of Spirit or other phenomena for the first time. They are frightened or confused by it and I do my best to conduct a proper investigation into what is going.  I then give them an explanation or understanding of what I believe is happening.  I never force anyone to accept what my conclusions are, as at the end of the day, it is their experience and I feel that they should come to their own conclusions, based on my evidence.   The Spirit World is more active around us that many are willing to believe. On most occasions, I find that it is our own loved-ones, who have passed on, that are coming close to us, usually in a time of crisis, which is at the root of the phenomena.

For example, take a family where a member has been diagnosed with a serious illness, lost their job or some other negative situation has reared its ugly head.  At such times, does not our family and friends, visit, text, phone or email with words of comfort and support?   So if there is communication between the Spirit World and us, then surely Spirit will also draw close to us at such a worrying time. This is what I often find happens.

It doesn’t have to be at negative times in our lives that our Spirit loved ones draw close. Happy times when families and friends gather, such as the birth of a baby or a wedding or other celebration, is a time for our friends in Spirit to join in and let us know how proud they are of us?

I also investigate areas where there has been alleged spirit activity in old or public buildings. I do more than just investigate and document my experiences as I feel that it is a spiritual medium’s duty to try to get the spirit to move on to their own spiritual pathway. But in the end, that is the choice left to the spirit entity. On some occasions, I may not encounter any Spirit because they may not be present at that time or perhaps they were never there at all.

I do get a little concerned when an individual or a group comes along and experiences spirit, then after documenting, they then pass the word around, so others can come to witness this phenomenon.   I feel that this is like putting the spirit, trapped or otherwise, on show to do tricks, as in a circus. Again, I say that, I feel it is the duty of a spiritual medium and a responsible psychic, to try to help the spirit to move on.

Sometimes people can become aware of something and mistake it for Spirit. Often this may be psychic awareness of energies, which are around wherever you are.  To some people, memories can appear to be ghosts.  For example, you entering a house for the first time; you may feel an abundance of joy. It could be that a very loving family has lived there previously and you are picking up that memory.  Or perhaps there was a lot of sadness in the family and you are aware of a negative feeling.

Sadly, all this is fertile ground for sensationalism from the media, and it is this sensationalism that is masking the truth of what is really going on.

My experience in psychic research led to me in 2009, being invited to give a talk to the London branch of The Ghost Club. The Ghost Club is the oldest organisation in the world associated with psychical research. It was founded in 1862 but has its roots in Cambridge University where, in 1855, fellows at Trinity College began to discuss ghosts and psychic phenomena. I was honoured to be invited.  Past members of this group were Charles Dickens and Arthur Conan Doyle.
